I’ve been sounding the alarm on this winter and the signs it was showing to become an absolute monster since around September and October. November saw record cold temps and the old adage goes something along the lines of ‘What happens in November, winter will remember.’
Take a look at the following maps, from WeatherBELL.com. You can get a detailed analysis by watching THIS VIDEO, free for all users. It’s Joe Bastardi’s ‘Saturday Summary’ a weekly and free look at what has happened and what is to come.
The first map is what one of the models is forecasting for the month of February…most of the Ohio Valley is pegged at 15 below F for the entire month. Few folks are spared, including those of you in the Southeast. The temps are listed in celsius and you can take those values and multiply them by 1.8 to get to fahrenheit numbers. So in the Southeast, you may be dealing with 10 below, ON THE AVERAGE, for the month of February if this model holds up. That would be incredible.
The second map is the average through March 10th. Bastardi and his group believe March will be a below normal month and winter will be with us into April. These are incredibly impressive. Bastardi says in the video that he cannot recall a period of 15 below normal in and around State College, PA, for an entire month…but that is what this model is projecting.
It ain’t over folks…it’s only just begun.
Lastly, this map from the Climate Prediction Center, which is typically the last outfit to see things and get them right…even they can’t miss this one….their map valid through February 4th:
