Came across some charts and maps today related to the corn harvest. I found them from Freese-Notis’ twitter feed, and they are good people. I’ve been following some of their weather prognostications and analysis since 1996. The chart was put together by The Van Trump Report (it’s always important to cite sources!)
It was a big week for corn planting through the heart of the Midwest. The first chart shows the May 4th report, the second is May 11th..look at the increases!
That’s gittin’ er done, son! But Minnesota and Wisconsin are headed for some problems…another late plant for them and a region where the loss of the Cochin pipeline is going to come home to roost again in November when grain drying hits. That area was the fuse that helped lead to the powder keg of supply challenges we had in December and January of last winter.
